Volleyball: Six tabbed for weekly honors

Six student-athletes earned Lone Star Conference Volleyball Player of the Week honors for their performances last week, league officials announced.

Offensive
Laura Prinsen, West Texas A&M, Jr., Rightside Hitter, Spring, Texas/Klein Collins
Prinsen once again led the Lady Buffs in kills, as WT went 3-0 last week against LSC opponents, Eastern New Mexico, East Central, and Southeastern Oklahoma. Prinsen averaged 4.33 kills per set and tallied a hitting percentage of .386. She also contributed 32 digs and five block assists. Prinsen recorded two double-doubles with 15 kills and 12 digs against Southeastern Oklahoma and 10 kills and 14 digs against East Central. She hit .500 twice last week, against Eastern New Mexico and Southeastern Oklahoma.

Kandis Schroeder, Texas Woman's, Sr., MB, Windthorst, Texas, Windthorst
Senior middle blocker Kandis Schroeder led the Pioneers with 29 kills, 71 total attacks, nine total blocks, and 34.5 points in the team's wins over UCO and SWOSU.

Defensive
Shawna Hines, Abilene Christian, So., MB, Aurora, Colo./Rangeview
Hines had 17 blocks, five solo and 12 assisted all while recording 27 kills. She helped Abilene Christian win its seventh-straight overall game and fifth-straight LSC match. She also passed 100 total blocks for her second-straight season. In Tuesday's non-conference win over Dallas Baptist, Hines had 15 kills, four digs and seven blocks.

Sesley Graves, Midwestern State, Jr., Middle Blocker, Wichita Falls, Texas/Wichita Falls
Graves set a school record with 11 total blocks to help Midwestern State to a five-set win over Angelo State Thursday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. The junior from Wichita Falls' block total is the second most in the Lone Star Conference this season. Graves averaged 1.62 blocks per set for the week.

Setter
Tess Brindock, Angelo State, Sr., Setter, Rockwall, Texas/Rockwall
Brindock dished out 47 assists at Midwestern State and a match-high 53 assists at Cameron. She pushed her career-assist total to 4,102 to leave her 27 behind former ‘Belle Jodi Cave for third on ASU's all-time assists list. Her one service ace at Cameron gives her 105 for her career, one behind Patricia Horny for eighth on that list. For the week, Brindock had 100 assists (11.11 per set), two kills, one ace and eight digs.

Katie Rickwartz, West Texas A&M, Jr., Setter, Canyon, Texas/Canyon
In the Lady Buffs' three LSC sweeps last week, Rickwartz recorded 76 assists, adding to her season total of 1,062. Rickwartz career total assists is now at 3,147 and she currently stands at third in the school records for career assists. Last week, Rickwartz averaged 10.8 assists per set. She also contributed four kills, two service aces, 21 digs, and two block assists. She recorded a double-double against East Central, tallying 28 assists and 13 digs.
