Volleyball: Six tabbed for weekly honors

Six student-athletes earned Lone Star Conference Volleyball Player of the Week honors for their performances last week, league officials announced. 

LSC Players of the Week
Offensive
Amy Addison, Texas A&M-Commerce, Jr., Outside Hitter, Kemp, Texas/Kemp
Addison recorded a double-double with 13 kills and 10 digs to pace the Lions in a 3-0 win over Texas Woman's. She collected a .278 hitting percentage and helped the Lions secure their first winning season since 2002.

Melissa Harper, West Texas A&M, Jr., Middle Blocker, Peoria, Ariz./Peoria
Harper reached new career milestones last week in the Lady Buffs' two matches against Midwestern State and Cameron. She tallied 27 kills in 40 attempts for a hitting percentage of .600. She also contributed five block assists. Her best match was against CU where she recorded 17 kills in 21 attempts with no errors for a career high hitting percentage of .810. Her hitting percentage also earned her the eighth spot in WT records for hitting percentage in a match with a minimum of ten attempts. Harper is currently second in the LSC for hitting percentage and blocks.

Defensive
Missy Castro, Tarleton State, Sr., Outside Hitter, Azle, Texas/Azle
Castro posted double-digit dig totals in both of Tarleton's win last week, helping the TexAnns finish the season with a 10-2 mark at home.  The 10 victories tied a school record for the most wins at home.  The last TexAnn team to win 10 games at home was back in 1991.  Castro posted a total of 31 digs and had two assisted blocks as well.  

Ashley Dyer, West Texas A&M, Jr., Middle Blocker, Perryton, Texas/Perryton    
Dyer's defense at the net helped lead the Lady Buffs to two conference victories last week against Midwestern State and Cameron. Dyer tallied 11 block assists in two matches last week. She also contributed four kills. Her best match was against CU where she recorded eight block assists and joined the WT record books for block assists in a match.

Setter
Katie Rickwartz, West Texas A&M, Jr., Setter, Canyon, Texas/Canyon
Rickwartz reached a new career milestone in the Lady Buffs wins last week against LSC opponents, Midwestern State and Cameron. She totaled 83 assists last week, tallying her 3000th career assist against MSU. She also contributed nine kills nine kills and two service aces as well as three block assists. She also recorded 12 digs. Her best match was against CU, where she tallied 48 assists, four kills, three block assists, and 11 digs. Rickwartz still leads the league in assists, averaging 11.33 assists per set.

Ijeoma Moronu, Abilene Christian, So., S, Fort Worth, Texas/Paschal
Moronu continues to show why she is one of the most all-around players on ACU's team. She helped the Wildcats to a 3-0 record this week with wins over Permian Basin, Southwestern Oklahoma, and Central Oklahoma. Moronu had two double-doubles in wins over UTPB and SWOSU. She had 59 assists and 25 digs Tuesday night, and then had 31 assists and 16 digs Thursday. She narrowly missed what would have been her fifth-straight double-double Saturday when she had 37 assists and nine digs. Defensively Moronu had six assisted blocks and two solo blocks, that included five total blocks in the win over UCO. She also had 127 assists (11.5 per set) , helped the team to a .213 hitting percentage, and posted 12 kills in three match.
