LSC announces Track & Field weekly honors
Four track and field student-athletes have been recognized with Lone Star Conference Athlete of the Week honors for competition last week, league officials announced today.

LSC Men's Track Athlete of the Week
Jeremy Jones, Angelo State University, Jr., Hurdles, Oakland,
Calif./Castlemont CA
Junior Jeremy Jones recorded bettered his NCAA Division II
provisional qualifying marks in both the 110-meter and 400-meter
hurdles on Saturday at the Texas Invitational. He placed sixth in
the 110 hurdles in a time of 14.27 and fifth in the 400 hurdles in
a time of 52.97.
LSC Men's Field Athlete of the Week
Tyler Fleet, Abilene Christian University, Fr., Thrower, Tyler,
Texas/Tyler Lee High School
Tyler Fleet won both the discus throw and the hammer throw
last Saturday at the Baylor / Dr Pepper Invitational in Waco.
Fleet won the hammer throw with a mark of 169 feet, 0 inches, and
won the discus throw with a mark of 169 feet, 10 inches.
Fleet has the best discus mark in the nation (176-9 on March 7 in
Abilene) and the No. 2 hammer throw mark in the nation (176-7 on
March 7 in Abilene).
LSC Women's Track Athlete of the Week
Ashley Painter, Angelo State University, Jr., Hurdles, San Angelo,
Texas/Lake View HS
Junior Ashley Painter set an NCAA DII provisional
qualifying mark in the 400-meter hurdles on Saturday at the Texas
Invitational. The San Angelo product was the top DII finisher,
placing third overall, in the 400 hurdles in a time of 1:02.08.
LSC Women's Field Athlete of the Week
Linda Brivule, Abilene Christian University, So., Javelin Thrower,
Riga, Latvia/Non-U.S.
Linda Brivule posted the best javelin throw mark in NCAA
Division II track and field last Saturday at the Baylor / Dr Pepper
Invitational in Waco. Brivule finished second in the event
with a mark of 149 feet, 2 inches, the second time this season she
has thrown at least 145 feet.
