Tennis: CU men, ACU women win LSC titles
Cameron's men and Abilene Christian's women won the Lone Star Conference Championships Saturday as the LSC Tennis Championship concluded in Abilene, Texas.
The Aggies won their first LSC men's tennis championship with a 5-0 triumph over ACU. CU, ranked 7th in the nation and the No. 1 team in the NCAA Division II Central Region, improved to 20-3 on the season.
On the men's side, both Cameron and ACU will advance to the regional tournament in two weeks with Cameron serving as the host of one of the tournaments, while the region's No. 2 seed, Incarnate Word, will be the likely host of the other men's tournament. ACU will likely be in the Incarnate Word regional, which will be played either May 8-9 or May 9-10 in San Antonio.
The Wildcats earned their 18th LSC women's tennis title with a 5-0 victory over Tarleton State. ACU -- 25-3 overall, ranked No. 6 in the nation and No. 1 in the NCAA Division II Central Region -- will serve as one of the hosts for one of the two NCAA Division II Central Region Tournaments, likely to be played May 9-10 in Abilene.
