Softball: Four players honored
Four student-athletes earned Lone Star Conference Softball Player of the Week honors for their performances last week, league officials announced today.
LSC SOFTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
LSC North Hitter
Maranda Bishop, Midwestern State
University
Jr. , Centerfield, Splendora, Texas/Splendora

Bishop extended her hitting streak to five as she helped Midwestern
State win three out of four games this week by hitting .571 and
slugging 1.000 with three triples while scoring six runs, driving
in four more and stealing two bases. The junior center fielder from
Splendora was 3-for-4 with a triple while scoring three runs and
driving in two more in a 14-0 Game 1 win over Southwestern Oklahoma
State on Saturday, then drove in MSU's lone run in Game on another
three-bagger. Bishop then reached on a single to center field in
Game 1 against Abilene Christian on Sunday before going 2-for-3
with yet another triple while scoring two runs and driving in
another in Game 2. Bishop has already matched the school record for
triples in a season at six and has collected hits in 18 of MSU's 21
games this season.
LSC North Pitcher
Marjorie Johnson, Southeastern Oklahoma State
University
Jr., Pitcher, Tulsa, Okla./Bishop Kelley
Johnson moved to 12-0 on the season with a 3-0 record last
week. She collected both wins against Texas Woman's and a
third against East Central. She struck out 21 batters and held
opposing hitters to a .051 batting average. She allowed two
unearned runs and just two hits in her three appearances.
LSC South Hitter
Ariel Lichtenberger, Texas A&M
University-Kingsville

Texas/Alice
Lichtenberg led the Javelinas with a .714 average in the three-game
series sweep of Eastern New Mexico. The Javelinas outscored
the Zias 17-1. Litchenberger was the only Javelina to have a
hit in all three games. She was 1-for-2 in game one, 2-for-2
in game two and 2-for-3 in game three.

Courtney Rigamonti, Texas A&M
University-Kingsville
Jr. , RHP, Victoria, Texas/St. Joseph's
Rigamonti pitched 12 shutout innings and allowed only one extra base hit in pitching the Javelinas to 10-0 and 5-0 wins over Eastern New Mexico to open LSC play. Rigamonti pitched a five-hit shutout in the 10-0 win and a four-hit shutout in the 5-0 win in game three of the series. Eastern came in as the second best hitting team in the LSC with a .360 average but was held to a .186 average by the Javelina pitching staff.
