Four student-athletes earned Lone Star Conference Softball Player of the Week honors for their performances last week, league officials announced today.
LSC SOFTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
LSC North Hitter
Ashley Graham, Southeastern Oklahoma State University
Sr., Outfielder, Grand Prairie, Texas/Bowie HS
Ashley Graham posted huge numbers in the home opening double header
against Tarleton State. She hit .714 on the day, connecting
on 5-of-7 at the plate with two home runs, five RBI and three runs
scored. She slugged an impressive 1.571 and even stole a
base.
LSC North Pitcher
Jami McAdoo, Southeastern Oklahoma State University
Jr., Pitcher, Rush Springs, Okla./Rush Springs HS
Jami McAdoo helped SOSU to a win in game two of its home opening
double header against Tarleton State. She tossed her first
shutout of the season as SOSU picked up an 8-0 run-rule win in five
innings. She scattered six hits and struck out nine in the
winning effort. She did not give up a walk while facing just
four more batters than the minimum for a five inning contest.
LSC South Hitter
Macy Baker, Angelo State University
Jr., Shortstop, Crowley, Texas/Crowley HS
Junior Macy Baker hit .500 as she guided the Rambelles to a 3-1
record and the title of the 2008 ASU Blue & Gold Classic. Baker
went 5-for-10 from the plate with a double and a home run in ASU's
four games in the event. She scored two runs and collected five RBI
for the No. 5-ranked Rambelles. Baker hit safely in all four games,
including a 2-for-3 performance in ASU's 2-1 win over West Texas
A&M in the final game on Monday, a game that proved to be for
the tournament championship.
LSC South Pitcher
Kristen Cruickshank, Eastern New Mexico University
So., Pitcher/Designated Player, Glendale, Ariz./Deer Valley High
School
Kristen Cruickshank turned in a stellar week, allowing no earned
runs and just one run in games against 10th ranked Cal
State-Stanisalus, and California-San Diego- seeded first in the
gold bracket of the Schutt Sports Division II Leadoff Classic. She
tossed a complete-game, one-hit shutout against CSU-Stanislaus,
shutting them down until the Zias finally scored in the sixth and
seventh inning. Cruickshank retired the final 12 batters of that
game. She also threw a four-hitter with four strikeouts against
UC-San Diego before giving up the only run of the game during a
three-error inning. For the season, she has both of Eastern's
victories over top-20 teams, having defeated #17 Midwestern State
earlier in the year
