Softball: Four players honored
Four student-athletes earned Lone Star Conference Softball Player of the Week honors for their performances last week, league officials announced today.
LSC SOFTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
LSC North Hitter
Meagan Campbell, University of Central Oklahoma
Sr., Outfield, Broken Arrow, Okla./Broken Arrow
Senior veteran was UCO's only all-tournament pick at the St.
Mary's Collegiate Classic over the weekend in leading the Bronchos
to a 3-2 weekend in the season-opening event. She hit .450
with nine hits in 20 at bats while scoring six runs and stealing
three bases, moving into fifth place on the school's stolen base
list in the process.
LSC North Pitcher
Marjorie Johnson, Southeastern Oklahoma State University
Jr., Pitcher, Tulsa, Okla./Bishop Kelley
Johnson was 3-0 on the weekend, opening her Savage Storm career
with 15.2 innings of scoreless softball before giving up a run
against No. 9 St. Mary's in a game SOSU won 9-3. Her ERA in
four appearances and three starts was 0.65, while picking up two
shutouts and tossing 21.2 innings for the weekend. She also
finished the weekend with 44 strikeouts. She was named the
MVP of the St. Mary's tournament following her outstanding
weekend.

Whitney Meeks, Angelo State University
Sr., Outfield, Denton, Texas/Denton HS
Meeks opened up her final season in style as she hit .889 in
leading the Rambelles to the championship of the 2008 ASU Softball
Leadoff Classic. Meeks went 8-for-9 from the plate in her
three games, scoring eight runs and collecting three RBI. She
did not strike out during the event and added two walks and a hit
by pitch. In addition, Meeks was a perfect 3-for-3 in stolen base
attempts. In her two games against Oklahoma Panhandle, Meeks was a
perfect 6-for-6 from the plate with six runs scored and three
RBI. She added a 2-for-3 performance against Northeastern
State on Friday with two runs scored in the Rambelles' 9-1,
six-inning win over the RiverHawks.

Kim McDonald, Abilene Christian University
Sr., Pitcher, College Station, Texas/Bryan High
School
McDonald went 1-0 with one save in the tournament, and threw the
school's first perfect game in a 12-0 win over Delta State. ...
McDonald went five innings and struck out three Lady Statesmen to
pick up the win and record the perfect game. ... McDonald also
picked up the save in ACU's 6-4 win over Cameron on Sunday.
McDonald came into the game with one out in the seventh after the
Lady Aggies had hit a grand slam and she retired the only two
batters she faced to end the game.
