LSC Soccer Notes (Submitted by LSC SID's)
Abilene Christian
Jackie Gentile scored the eighth goal of her career in the 2-1
loss to Missouri Southern. This ties Gentile with Jordan Reese on
ACU's young career leader list for goals and leaves her two short
of becoming the second Wildcat player to reach double-digit goals
for a career...This past weekend marked the first time that ACU had
ever had back-to-back overtime games, and the Wildcats played a
total of four overtime periods in just two days time. In 2007, ACU
had only two games that went into two overtimes; the 2008 squad
matched that number in the season's first two matches...ACU's five
shots against No. 12 Drury was the third-lowest single-match total
in history. Last season, ACU managed just one shot against St.
Edward's (09/14/07), and four shots against St. Mary's
(08/31/08)...
Angelo State
Brandie DeBacker scored a goal in her first collegiate game as she
helped spark the Rambelles to a 1-1 week to open the 2008 season.
DeBacker's lone goal on the week came in Friday's 2-1 loss to
Emporia State, scoring on a header in the 90th minute against the
Hornets. DeBacker leads ASU in shots (11) and shots on goal
(8) through the first two games of the season... Marianne Glutz
anchored a Rambelle defense that gave up just three goals in a 1-1
weekend while at the Drury Inn Classic in St. Joseph, Mo.
Glutz' Rambelles limited event-host Missouri Western to just seven
shots and only three shots on goal in a 2-1 double overtime win for
ASU. The Rambelles did not give up a corner kick to Missouri
Western in the win...
Central Oklahoma
No. 10-ranked UCO opened the 2008 season in dramatic fashion,
shutting out Oklahoma Christian 2-0 on Aug. 28 before a Division II
single-game record 2,139 fans at Wantland Stadium . . . The
Bronchos, with only three starters back from last year's 19-5-1
team and 16 freshmen on their 26-player roster, followed with a 2-1
road win over Dallas Baptist . . . Senior transfer Stephanie Lovely
scored three of UCO's four goals for the week and the Bronchos
allowed just 12 shots in the two games . . . Redshirt freshman
Josie Baker was in goal for the first-game win, while true freshman
Samantha Rusk was between the posts for the DBU victory... A senior
transfer from Oklahoma State who hadn't played in the last two
years because of injury, Stephanie Lovely had a dramatic debut for
the Bronchos. She scored both goals in No. 10-ranked UCO's
season-opening 2-0 home win over Oklahoma Christian -- scoring on
the first two shots of the season -- and had the deciding goal in a
2-1 road win over Dallas Baptist. Lovely scored three
goals on just four shots for the week...
East Central
0-2 last week...
Eastern New Mexico
Started the season with a tough road trip that saw them drop three
games to tough regional competitors: Fort Lewis, Dixie State and
MSU-Billings. Christie Nylaan scored her first goal of the season,
while Kimberly Luna registered an assist. Sierra Cardenas made 22
saves in net to post an .815 save percentage. The Zias will begin a
three-game homestand on Friday, against Colorado Christian...
Kimberly Luna assisted on Christie Nylaan's goal and had three
shots including one on goal... Christie Nylaan scored to give ENMU
a 1-0 lead over Dixie State 19:38 into the contest...
Midwestern State
Fell to 8-6 in season openers after dropping a 2-0 result to
Central Missouri Friday night in Warrensburg...MSU has now suffered
five opening day shut outs...The Mustangs have endured 180 minutes
from the start of the season without scoring a goal which rates as
the second longest drought in school history from the start of a
season. The 2005 squad was 222:56 minutes into the season before
current senior and then freshman Megan Bibilone scored against
Harding University...Central Missouri limited MSU to eight total
shots which were the fewest since Midwestern managed five shots in
a 3-0 loss to Central Oklahoma on Sep. 19, 2007. MSU placed just
three shots on goal which were the fewest since the Mustangs put
one shot on frame in a 3-0 setback to Incarnate Word on Sep. 24,
2006...
Northeastern State
In her debut for the RiverHawks, freshman Kristina Marshall scored
two goals as Northeastern State picked up a season opening 5-2
victory over Harding...
Southwestern Oklahoma

Texas A&M-Commerce
Began the season with back-to-back wins over No. 12 Drury, 4-2 and
Dallas Baptist, 2-1. The back-to-back wins to open the season marks
the fifth time in program history that the Lions have achieved that
feat. With the win over nationally ranked Drury, it marked the
seventh-straight year that A&M-Commerce has defeated a ranked
team. Also in the win over the Panthers, junior Meagan Lasley had
multiple assists for the fourth time in a match and sophomore
Chelsey Haight had the first multi-assist game of her career. With
the win over Drury, the Lions now have a 11-0-2 mark in season
opening contests. Against the Patriots of Dallas Baptist, both
Haight and Lasley teamed up on the game-winning goal in the 114th
minute...

Friday, Sept. 5 vs. Missouri Western State (in Joplin, Missouri),
and at Missouri Southern State on Sunday, Sept. 5...
