SSC: Weekly Honors Announced
Midwestern State's Craig Sutherland and Brannon Calvert earned Southwest Soccer Conference Player of the Week honors for their performances last week, league officials announced.

Offensive
Craig Sutherland, Midwestern State
R-Fr., Striker, Edinburgh, Scotland/George Watson's
Sutherland scored goals in his first two matches of his
collegiate career as No. 3 Midwestern State claimed road wins at
St. Mary's and No. 21 Incarnate Word last weekend. The Edinburgh,
Scotland native beat St. Mary's keeper Brett Collier on a
one-timer, then served a perfect through ball for his first career
assist as the Mustangs cruised to a 3-0 win over St. Mary's on
Friday. He added another goal in MSU's 4-1 over Incarnate Word on
Sunday.
Defensive
Brannon Calvert, Midwestern State
Sr., Defender, Pryor, Okla./Pryor
Calvert played a key role in organizing a Midwestern
State defense which allowed five total shots in 350 minutes of play
during wins at St. Mary's and Incarnate Word last weekend. The
Mustangs limited each of the teams to a single shot on goal as the
team is out to a 2-0 start.

Eastern New Mexico
Was inactive last week. The Greyhounds will open their season on
Friday against St. Edwards as they begin a five-game
homestand...
Midwestern State
Improved to 28-6-3 in season openers with its 3-0 win at St.
Mary's Friday afternoon. The Mustangs are also now 8-0-1 since the
Doug Elder began in 2001 and is a perfect 7-0 in all-time season
openers on the road...Since 1991, MSU is 16-1-1 in season
openers... Senior midfielder Ahmad Ihmeidan leads MSU with six
points has he has notched a goal and an assist in each of the
Mustangs' two matches this season...
Missouri Southern
0-3 last week...
Northeastern State
0-2 last week...
West Texas A&M
Itamar Keinan tallied two goals along with one assists in a season
opening victory against College of the Southwest, 7-0.
