Women's Soccer: A&M-C advances at Regional
Texas A&M-Commerce edged Nebraska-Omaha, 1-0, while West Texas A&M fell to Washburn, 2-1 in double overtime, in first round action of the 2008 NCAA Women's South Central Regional Tournament.
Behind Meagan Lasley's 20th goal of the season, the Lions (15-3-3) advance to the second round and will play Central Missouri at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Lasley scored the eventual game-winner in the 23rd minute of play and goalie Taylor Jordan made it stand with six saves in her fifth shutout of the season.
A&M-C is in the second round for the second time in school history.
The Lone Star Conference champion Lady Buffs (16-4-1) season ended at home in the 100th minute of action. WTAMU's Kayla Sisco started the scoring at the 33:29 mark before Washburn tied the game up in the 78th minute and earned sudden-victory in the second overtime period.
Washburn advances to play Truman on Sunday at 1 p.m.
