Golf: Cameron's Svajlen leads men's academic honors
For the second consecutive year Cameron's Peter Svajlen was named Academic Player of the Year to top the list of men's golf academic honorees announced by Lone Star Conference officials Sunday night at the championship awards banquet.
Svajlen, a junior business management major from Bratislava, Slovakia,
earned the league's top academic honor and was joined by Northeastern State's Jeff Cox and Brady Wood along with Abilene Christian's Patrick Hanauer and Curtis Harris and Southwestern Oklahoma's Scott Kulczycki.
Cox, Hanauer and Harris were all repeat selections on the All-Academic Team.
To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.20 grade point average and be at least a sophomore, both academically and athletically. The Academic Player of Year award and All-Academic Team are selected from the list of academically qualified players, with the league's sports information directors voting on the basis of both academic and athletic achievement. All qualifying student-athletes not selected for the All-Academic Team are then named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll.
In addition to the six players on the All-Academic Team, eight more garnered LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll acclaim.
