Men's Golf: ACU, CU conclude play at NCAA meet



Abilene Christian finished tied for eighth place and Cameron was 15th to wrap up the NCAA Division II national championships Friday at The Meadows in Allendale, Mich.

Hugues Joannes paced ACU finishing tied for 14th with a four-round total of 297, while Curtis Harris shot 299 to end up tied for 21st on the individual leaderboard.

Cameron concluded the season with a 15th place team finish. Cane Shumaker posted the low score for the Aggies with a 302.

Also representing the Lone Star Conference at the national tournament was Central Oklahoma's Mitch Boles as an individual. Boles capped off his junior campaign in a tie for 24th with a four-round tally of 300.

Just four strokes separated the top four teams as Barry University won the event with a 50-over 1,186 to edge South Carolina Upstate (1,187) by a stroke. Florida Southern (1,188) and Columbus State (1,189) were right behind them.

Columbus State's Christian Ries captured the individual national title by six strokes with an impressive one-over 285.
