Men's Hoops: SOSU falls in regional final
Southeastern Oklahoma's season came to an end with a 67-54 loss to Central Missouri in the final of the NCAA Division II South Central Regional at the UCM Multipurpose Building in Warrensburg, Mo.
Eric Babers tallied a game-high 27 points but it wasn't enough to overcome the Savage Storm's worst performance of the year from behind the three-point arc (1-for-13, 7.7 percent).
The Savage Storm had an impressive 2006-07 campaign finishing with a 27-5 record including a Lone Star Conference North Division title.
UCM led the game from start to finish including a six-point run to open the game. The Mules led by as many as 12 in the first half and took a 29-23 lead into halftime.
With 12:44 remaining, Babers' brought the Savage Storm within three (43-40) with an old-fashioned three-point play. The Mules responded with a 10-point run including a pair of three-pointers, lay-up and dunk to put the game out of reach.
Matt White was the only other SOSU player in double figures with 14 points. Theo Jones led UCM with 20 points, while Zack Wright and Wadale Williams added 11 points each as well.
