Baseball: ASU, ACU fall at regional
Angelo State and Abilene Christian were both eliminated from the NCAA Division II South Central Regional baseball championship hosted by Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Mo.
ASU (45-20) was blanked 23-0 by Emporia State in the first round before posting wins over Central Missouri, 6-3, and ACU, 4-2 in 12 innings. The Rams were eliminated by ESU in the semifinals, 5-3.
The Wildcats (44-19) were edged 5-4 by Nebraska-Omaha in the opening game before knocking out Texas-Permian Basin with a 10-9 victory. ACU was eliminated by ASU on Saturday in extra innings.
UCM and ESU advanced to the championship game on Monday for a spot in the World Series.
