ACU claims LSC baseball crown
Preston Vancil hurled seven shutout innings Tuesday afternoon and the Abilene Christian offense did the rest as the Wildcats won the Lone Star Conference baseball championship with a 6-0 win over Angelo State at Crutcher Scott Field.
ACU's victory snaps the program's three-year losing streak in
the tournament championship game and gives the Wildcats their first
LSC baseball championship since 2002. The win also gives the
Wildcats the league's automatic berth into next weekend's NCAA
Division II South Central Region Tournament. The Wildcats
will be making their eighth appearance in the tournament since
2000.
The regional field and site will be announced either late Sunday
night or early Monday morning.
