Baseball: Rowland, Strickland earn weekly honors
East Central's Dusty Rowland and Texas A&M-Kingsville's Sam Strickland picked up Lone Star Conference Baseball Players of the Week honors for their performances last week, the league office announced today.

LSC Hitter of the Week
Dusty Rowland, East Central University
Jr., Outfielder, Ada, Okla./Byng High School
Rowland batted .500 (8-for-16) with two homers, two doubles, 11
runs batted in and seven runs scored as ECU posted a 3-2 record
last week, including taking 3-of-4 games from visiting Eastern New
Mexico. He went 2-for-4 with five RBI in a 10-8 non-conference loss
to UCO. He was 3-for-5 with a solo-homer and three runs scored in
ECU's 10-4 series opening victory over ENMU and hit a two-run blast
in the Tigers' 13-4 loss to the Greyhounds. Rowland is batting .337
for the season and leads the team with 47 runs batted in and is
second in homers (4) and doubles (10).
LSC Pitcher of the Week
Sam Strickland, Texas A&M University-Kingsville
Jr., LHP, Spring, Texas/Spring Woods
Strickland improved to 7-3 on the season by throwing a four-hit, 13
strikeout complete game effort against Cameron in a 3-0 Javelina
victory, enabling Texas A&M-Kingsville to earn a series split
on the road. It was Strickland's sixth complete game of the
year, his second shutout and lowered his ERA to 2.79. His 13
strikeouts were the most for a Javelina pitcher in a single game in
three seasons and are the most by a pitcher in the Lone Star
Conference this year.
