Carroll completed a stellar week at the plate in leading to Central
Oklahoma to a 3-2 record on the week against two perennial national
powerhouses. The senior batted .571 (12-of-21) with three
home runs, seven RBI and nine runs scored while sporting an on-base
percentage of .565. Carroll went five-for-five with a double, home
run and three RBI during a 19-5 rout of No. 14-ranked Emporia State
before adding a pair of multi-hit games and two home runs during a
four-game series with Abilene Christian.
LSC Pitcher of the Week
Trey Watten, Abilene Christian University
Jr., Pitcher, Coppell, Texas/Coppell High School
Watten -- the pre-season Pitcher of the year in the Lone Star
Conference -- looked like it Sunday in ACU's 3-1 win over No. 10
Central Oklahoma. Watten, a junior righthander, shut down one
of the nation's top offenses in a dominating complete-game
performance. Watten struck out 11 Bronchos and only walked
three as ACU earned a split of the four-game LSC series that left
the teams tied for third in the conference at 5-2. Watten
struck out two batters in the ninth inning, including the final
hitter of the game with the tying runs on base.
