LSC Softball Crossover Tournament: North dominates three-day event

Midwestern State took home the Lone Star Conference Softball Crossover Tournament title with a 5-1 run during the three-day, 40-game event in San Angelo, Texas.

The Mustangs were one of three North Division teams to go 5-1 as the North prevailed in 29 of the games. East Central and Central Oklahoma went 5-1 in the tournament as well.

MSU earned the tournament trophy by virtue of allowing the least runs (5) in the tournament.

FORMAT: All fifteen (15) LSC teams – seven (7) from the North and eight (8) from the South Division – will comprise the tournament field. 13 teams will play six (6) games against teams from the opposite division, and two will play five (5) games. Games will not count in the division standings.

TICKET PRICES: Daily ticket prices will be $8 for adults, $6 for senior adults and $5 for students. Tournament passes are also available at $20 for adults, $15 for senior adults or $10 for students. College students must present valid school ID card. There will be no complimentary tickets. Children four (4) years of age and younger will be admitted free.

NOTICE TO SPECTATORS: No animals (leashed or otherwise), coolers, bottles, tobacco products or alcohol are allowed. The LSC reserves the right to inspect purses, bags and other carry-in items held by any spectators prior to their entry into the Facility.

T-SHIRT SALES: Official tournament t-shirts will be on sale for $15 each, plus general LSC t-shirts ($15), hats ($20), visors ($10) and trading pins ($2) will be available. The merchandise will be sold from a tent near the concession stand. NOTE: Proceeds from the sale of this year’s crossover t-shirts will be donated to the Abby Burns Fund (TWU softball player).  Read more about Abby here.

DETERMINATION OF HOME TEAM: South Division teams will be designated the home team, occupy the third base dugout, and wear light uniforms on Friday and Sunday. North Division teams will be designated home team, occupy the third base dugout and wear light uniforms on Saturday. The visiting team shall occupy the first base dugout and wear dark uniforms each day. This order will be reversed in 2012.

INTERNATIONAL TIE-BREAKER: The international tie-breaker will be implemented at the start of the 8th inning.

AWARDS: Counts as tournament; Champion will be crowned based on overall record. The Lone Star Conference will provide a championship trophy to the LSC Crossover Tournament champion. In the event of a tie, the tie will be broken as follows: a) Head-to-head results in the tournament, if applicable; b) Least runs allowed in the tournament; c) Most runs scored in the tournament.

From Knickerbocker Hotels
Turn right out of parking lot onto Knickerbocker and go east
After about a mile, turn left at Bryant Blvd S/US-277 N/US-87 - stoplight
After less than half a mile turn right at Avenue L – stoplight, rustic furniture on the far right corner
Travel 1.7 miles then turn left at Bell St and go north
After about a mile, the Texas Bank Sports Complex is on the right

From Northeast (Abilene/Dallas)
Take the Bell St. exit off of US-277/US-67 and head south
The Texas Bank Sports Complex will be on the left after about 1.5 miles

From the Northwest (Amarillo/Lubbock)
Continue on US-87 South through the north part of town
Get on the Houston Harte Expressway (Loop 306) heading east
Take the Bell St. exit and head south
The Texas Bank Sports Complex will be on the left after about 1.5 miles

From the Southeast (San Antonio/Kingsville)
US-87 will join US-277 and form S. Bryant Blvd., continue north into town
Turn right at Avenue L – stoplight, rustic furniture on the far right corner
Travel 1.7 miles then turn left at Bell St and go north
After about a mile, the Texas Bank Sports Complex is on the right

Most of the food options are located around the hotel area, or on the west side of town.
