The Lone Star Conference has enjoyed membership in NCAA Division II since 1982 and continues to take great pride in saying “I Chose Division II.” The LSC places high importance on the six defining attributes of athletics participation in Division II. They are: Learning (multiple opportunities to broaden knowledge and skills), Service (positive societal attitude through contributions to community), Balance (emphasis on collective knowledge; integration of skills), Sportsmanship (respect for fairness, courtesy; ethical conduct toward others), Passion (enthusiastic dedication and desire in effort), and Resourcefulness (versatile skill set drawn from broad range of experiences).
 

Division II Positioning Statement: Higher education has lasting importance on an individual’s future success. For this reason, the emphasis for the student-athlete experience in Division II is a comprehensive program of learning and development in a personal setting. The Division II approach provides growth opportunities through academic achievement, learning in high-level athletic competition and development of positive societal attitudes in service to community. The balance and integration of these different areas of learning opportunity provide Division II student-athletes a path to graduation while cultivating a variety of skills and knowledge for life ahead.
