West Texas A&M won its fifth consecutive men's title and Tarleton State captured its second women's crown at the Lone Star Conference Cross Country Championships held Saturday in at L.E. Ramey Golf Course in Kingsville, Texas.

Owen Hind captured the individual title in 25:59.98 to pace the Buffs, who had five runners in the top 8 for 23 points. Ryan Thomson, Briggs Wittlake, Benedict Westhenry, and Geoffrey Kipchumba finished 3-5-6-8, respectively, in the 8,000-meter race.
Tarleton State finished second with 60 points, and UT Permian Basin was third with 82. Texas A&M-Commerce was fourth, and Texas A&M-Kingsville fifth followed by Cameron, Eastern New Mexico, Angelo State and Western New Mexico.
WT's Thomson was tabbed Newcomer of the Year, while the Buffs Wittlake earned Freshman of the Year honors.
Tarleton earned its second title in the last three years with 53 points as four runners earned all-conference honors. Esmeralda Fuentes led the TexAnns placing second with a time of 22:06.73 in the 6K. Gretzel Jimenez, Emily Ayers, and Imani Williams joined Fuentes in the top 15.
WT finished just one-point back with 54 points, while Midwestern State was third with 63. A&M-C placed fourth, and ASU fifth followed by WNMU, ENMU, TAMUK and UTPB.
Midwestern State's Kayleigh Jarrett claimed the individual title in 21:49.82 to earn Freshman of the Year acclaim.
Tarleton's Amy Riera earned Newcomer of the Year honors.
The top 15 finishers in each race earned All-LSC runner honors.
Up next is the NCAA Division II South Central Regional meet Saturday, Nov. 4 hosted by West Texas A&M at The Range Cross Country Course in Canyon, Texas.
