The Lone Star Conference recognized its softball standouts Thursday as the postseason awards were announce by league officials at the championship banquet.
LSC champion West Texas A&M had 11 players receive All-LSC honors including a league-high six first-teamers.
WT, which won the conference title for the third straight year and fourth time overall with a 30-2 record, was represented on the All-LSC first team by Lacey Taylor, Kilee Halbert, Tori Bayer, Stacey Ramirez, Ashley Hardin, and Allie Smith.
The Lady Buffs claimed several special awards as well. Halbert was named Pitcher of the Year, Brittany Cruz claimed Freshman of the Year honors, Shea Ibrahim was tabbed Newcomer of the Year, and Kevin Blaskowski picked up his third Coach of the Year distinction.
Midwestern State’s Katelyn Vinson earned Player of the Year acclaim.
Texas Woman’s, Cameron, Angelo State and MSU each had five players named to the all-conference team. Tarleton State had four recognized, while Texas A&M-Commerce and Eastern New Mexico had three apiece and Texas A&M-Kingsville two.
Overall, 43 student-athletes were honored by the all-conference program, with a player from all nine LSC teams. The awards are voted upon by the league coaches, who determined a 16-player first team by position, along with second and third teams, consisting of 15 and 12 players, respectively, regardless of positions.
