WT’s Neuhaus tops women’s basketball academic honors

Five student-athletes were recognized Tuesday as the Lone Star Conference women’s basketball academic honors were announced by league officials at the LSC Awards Banquet in Allen, Texas.

The honors included an All-Academic Team, along with an Academic Player of the Year for the league.

West Texas A&M’s Michaela Neuhaus was tabbed LSC Academic Player of the Year.  The senior international business major from Lone Tree, Colo., leads the Lady Buffs in scoring (12.7 points per game) and the LSC in three-point field goal percentage (.472) and assist/turnover ratio (2.1).  Neuhaus was named CoSIDA Academic All-District.

On the All-Academic Team with Neuhaus was teammate Madison McLain, Texas Woman's Erin Maxwell, Eastern New Mexico’s Jordyn Cooper, and Tarleton State’s Bailey Wipff.  Cooper was a repeat selection.

To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must have reached sophomore status and carry at least a 3.30 grade point average. The All-Academic Team is selected from the list of academically qualified players, with the league’s sports information directors voting on the basis of both academic and athletic achievement.
