LSC Volleyball Championship: ASU and TSU in final

Angelo State and Tarleton State will meet in the Lone Star Conference Volleyball Championship game for the third straight year.

The Rambelles and TexAnns play Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Junell Center in San Angelo, Texas.

ASU sweeps past ENMU

Angelo State is back in the Lone Star Conference tournament championship game for the seventh straight year after sweeping Eastern New Mexico 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-15).

ASU plays Tarleton State in Saturday’s final at 3 p.m. for the third straight year.  

The Rambelles hit .280 as a team with 47 kills and 56 digs, while limiting the Greyhounds to a .121 hitting percentage.

ASU rallied to win a back-and-forth first set that featured 12 ties and eight lead changes, and then controlled the second and third sets.

Mallory Blauser led the ASU attack with 14 kills with Brianna Sotello (12) and Abbie Lynn (11) also in double-digits.  Mallory Davidson added 19 digs and Meghan Parker dished out 38 assists.

ENMU’s Andrea Aguilar had a match-high 22 digs, while Brooklyn Biel and Talaitupu Faumui each had eight kills.  Lauren Frye had seven kills to become the Greyhounds all-time kills leader.
 
TexAnns head to LSC championship game with 3-1 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville

For the third straight year, Tarleton State is heading to the Lone Star Conference Tournament Championship game after defeating Texas A&M-Kingsville 3-1 (26-24, 23-25, 25-13, 25-16).

The TexAnns, winners of eight straight games, will play the winner of No. 1-seed Angelo State and No. 4 Eastern New Mexico on Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Junell Center in San Angelo, Texas.

The TexAnns hit .172 in the match but limited the Javelinas to a .085 hitting percentage, including -.043 in the final set while Tarleton hit its highest percentage of the match at .225 in the clinching set.

TSU's Hailey Roberts had a match-high 18 kills while Autumn Taylor followed with 13 kills for her second straight double-digit kills performance. Jordyn Keamo had 45 assists, her 10th 40-assist game of the season and first since Oct. 28. Keamo also had a game-high three aces and eight digs.  Adrianna Knutson posted 28 digs to lead all players in the game.

Ashley Bukowski led the Javelinas with 11 kills, 12 digs and three blocks.  Lexi Wick added 14 kills and three blocks and Krystal Puente recorded 23 digs.

LSC Volleyball Championship: ASU sweeps MSU

Angelo State conquered Midwestern State 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-16) to wrap up quarterfinal action the Lone Star Conference Volleyball Championship on Thursday in San Angelo, Texas.

The Rambelles (29-3) sealed their eighth straight appearance in the semifinals and improved to 40-13 all-time in the tournament.  ASU takes on Eastern New Mexico Friday at 7:30 p.m.

ASU’s proficient attack was led by Mallory Blauser with 14 kills.  Brianna Sotello added 11 put downs and Abbie Lynn eight.  Meghan Parker distributed a match-best 37 sets as the Rambelles hit .316 as a team.

Aerielle Edwards double-double of 11 kills and 22 digs led MSU.

The Mustangs season ends at 12-21.

LSC Volleyball Championship: ENMU tops A&M-C in three

Eastern New Mexico topped Texas A&M-Commerce 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-21) in the Lone Star Conference Volleyball Championship quarterfinals on Thursday in San Angelo, Texas.

The Greyhounds (19-12) won their first tournament game since 2004 to advance to the semifinals Friday at 7:30 p.m. versus the Angelo State and Midwestern State winner.

ENMU’s efficient offense was paced by Lauren Frye who had a game-high 18 kills and hit .389.  Brooklyn Biel (12) and Courtney Lawson (10) recorded double-digit kills as well.

Alexis Aguirre had 28 assists and Tiana Roebuck added 16 as the Greyhounds hit .330 for the match.

Neka Nelson led the Lions with 12 kills while hitting a match-high .600, while Ashley Mireles added eight digs.

LSC Volleyball Championship: TSU sweeps WNMU

Tarleton State defeated Western New Mexico 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-21) in the Lone Star Conference Volleyball Championship quarterfinals on Thursday in San Angelo, Texas.

It's the third straight season Tarleton (25-5) has advanced to the semifinals and is looking for its third straight championship game appearance. The TexAnns will face Texas A&M-Kingsville on Friday at 5 p.m. in the Junell Center in San Angelo.

Autumn Taylor led the TexAnns with a career-high 15 kills, while Hailey Roberts added 12 and Alexis Applewhite had 10 for her third double-digit kill game of the season. Jordyn Keamo, the LSC Setter of the Year, had a game-high 31 assists and also added nine digs and a pair of service aces.

Adrianna Knutson and Roberts each had a match-high 16 digs while Michaela Rodriguez posted 13 digs. Elizabeth Muliaga, who had five kills, also had five blocks to lead the TexAnns at the net. Applewhite had four blocks of her own as the TexAnns totaled 12 blocks in the match.

Shannon Rich and Morgan Lyneis led the Mustangs offense with seven kills each.  Ashley Mataele had a team-best 16 digs.  Melanie Hughes and Cristal Carrizoza tallied 14 and 11 assists, respectively.

WNMU’s season ends at 16-16.

LSC Volleyball Championship: TAMUK tops WT in five

Texas A&M-Kingsville took the first two sets and then held off a West Texas A&M charge to prevail 3-2 (21-25, 22-25, 26-24, 25-12, 15-12) in the Lone Star Conference Volleyball Championship quarterfinals on Thursday in San Angelo, Texas.

The Javelinas earned their first LSC Tournament Championship win since 1998 to advance to the semifinals Friday at 5 p.m. against the Tarleton State and Western New Mexico winner.

TAMUK was led by Krystal Faison with a match high 19 kills on 59 swings with four attack errors to hit .254 on the afternoon, Casey Klobedans paced the Javelinas offense with 46 assists while Ashley Bukowski led all players with 24 digs.  TAMUK recorded 13 blocks led by Haley Hutchinson with eight.

The Lady Buffs were led offensively by Cori Haley with 17 kills on 52 swings with seven attack errors to hit .192 in her final collegiate match followed by Kress with 12 kills, Selena Batiste dished out 36 assists on the afternoon while Lauren Britten ended her storied WT career with 19 digs to run her career total to 2,086 for fourth place all-time in program history.

The Javelinas improved to 26-8 overall, while the Lady Buffs end their season at 18-14.
