Texas Woman’s Kendra Sancet headlined the Lone Star Conference Softball All-Academic team which was announced at the LSC Softball Championship banquet.
Sancet was named Academic Player of the Year for the second consecutive year.
A senior mathematics major from Magnolia, Texas, Sancet is the conference leader in doubles (20), and ranks in the top five in batting average (.418), slugging percentage (.837), and on-base percentage (.534). She has started every game at first base during her four years and is TWU’s all-time career leader in home runs and RBI.
Joining Sancet on the All-Academic Team was teammate Katy Stephens; West Texas A&M’s Allie Cranfill and Tori Bayer; Midwestern State’s Kelley Schaefer; Angelo State’s Rachel Moore and Megan Granado; Tarleton State’s Melody Mayse; and Cameron’s Sonora Zukerman.
Sancet earned all-academic recognition for the third straight year, while Cranfill was a repeat selection.
To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.30 grade point average and have reached sophomore status both athletically and academically. The Academic Player of Year award and All-Academic Team are selected from the list of academically qualified players, with the league’s sports information directors voting on the basis of both academic and athletic achievement.
