West Texas A&M won both the men’s and women’s titles at the Lone Star Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, held at the Athletic Training Center in Lubbock, Texas.
On the men’s side, WT finished with 162 points to top Texas A&M-Kingsville (123) and Texas A&M-Commerce (121), who finished second and third, respectively.
The Buffs were led by individual champions Zach Weatherly (shot put, 17.45m); Tadarius Ridge (55m, 6.40); and Josh Helom (400m, 48.44).
WT took the women’s title with 176 points. Angelo State finished second with 125 points in front of Texas A&M-Kingsville (91) in third place.
The Lady Buffs racked up wins in five events including: Sharon Kwarula (55m Hurdles, 8.01); Jasmine Walker (55m, 7.20); Bianca Farrington (200m, 24.78); Libby Strickland (high jump, 1.72m)and the 1,600m relay team of Kwarula, Rhemecka Graham, Jessie Thomas and Farrington (3:47.59)
Altogether, champions were crowned in 23 events with seven LSC championship records set. Here’s the complete list of award winners from Sunday’s competition:
