More than 40 honorees were recognized on the All-Lone Star Conference awards for their efforts at the 2014 LSC Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships. League officials announced the awards Tuesday.
West Texas A&M swept both team titles at the league’s indoor meet March 1-2.
The list of all-conference performers includes the winner of each event at the conference meet, including all members of the winning relay teams, plus any athlete who scores at least 14 points at the meet. In all, the all-conference program recognized 22 men and 22 women.
In addition to the announcement of All-LSC performers, the league recognized four student-athletes and a coach with individual awards.
On the men’s side, Texas A&M-Commerce’s Luis Romero was named the Outstanding Male Track Athlete, while Jeron Robinson of Texas A&M-Kingsville earned Outstanding Male Field Athlete acclaim. WT’s Darren Flowers was tabbed Men’s Track Coach of the Year.
For the women, Tarleton’s Aly Coughlin claimed Outstanding Female Track Athlete honors, while Jordan Gray of Angelo State was named Outstanding Female Field Athlete. Flowers also received Women’s Track Coach of the Year acclaim.
The league coaches voted upon the special awards.
Several of the LSC track and field athletes are now preparing for the conclusion of the 2014 indoor season with the NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships, set for March 14 and 15 in Winston-Salem, N.C., at JDL Fast Track.
