Softball: Golden Glove Awards announced

A year’s worth of top individual fielding performances were honored Tuesday, as winners of the Lone Star Conference Softball Golden Glove Awards were announced prior to this week’s championship.

The Golden Glove Awards were determined by a vote of LSC head coaches based on defensive performance alone for all nine positions for the second time.

Midwestern State had the most Golden Glovers with three, while LSC Champion Texas Woman’s, West Texas A&M and Tarleton State had two, and Angelo State and Abilene Christian each had one defensive standout.

The recipients included MSU catcher Kim Jerrick and Tarleton pitcher Randi Fentress.  The infield was comprised of  Morgan Spearman (ASU) at first base, Kelsey Latta (Tarleton) at second base, the duo of Kelley Schaefer (MSU) and Jordan Readicker (TWU) at the hot corner, and Alyssa Lemos (WT) at shortstop.

ACU center fielder Keanna Winkfield  was joined in the outfield by Courtney Bingham (MSU) in right for the second straight time, and a pair of left fielders – Lizzy Kelly (TWU) and Meghan Slattery (WT) .
