LSC announces Indoor Track & Field awards

Abilene Christian had top billing on the All-Lone Star Conference awards with 14 of the 40 honorees on the list for their performances at the 2013 LSC Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships.  The awards were announced Wednesday by league officials.

ACU swept both team titles at the league’s first indoor meet last weekend.

The list of all-conference performers includes the winner of each event at the conference meet, including all members of the winning relay teams, plus any athlete who scores at least 14 points at the meet. In all, 20 men and 20 women were recognized by the all-conference program

In addition to the announcement of All-LSC performers, the league recognized four student-athletes and two coaches with individual awards.

On the men’s side, ACU’s Jordan Geary and Eastern New Mexico’s Isaiah Samoei shared the Outstanding Male Track Athlete, while Jordan Yamoah of Texas A&M-Kingsville earned Outstanding Male Field Athlete acclaim.  ACU’s Roosevelt Lofton and TAMUK’s Ryan Dall were tabbed Men’s Track Coaches of the Year.

For the women, Harding’s Ewa Zaborowska claimed Outstanding Female Track Athlete honors, while Amanda Ouedraogo of ACU was named Outstanding Female Field Athlete.  The Wildcats Lofton received Women’s Track Coach of the Year acclaim.

The special awards were voted upon by the league coaches.

Several of the LSC track and field athletes are now preparing for the conclusion of the 2013 indoor season with the NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships, set for March 7-9 in Birmingham, Ala.
