LSC Indoor Track & Field All-Academic team announced

West Texas A&M’s Dylan Doss and Harding’s Ewa Zaborowska were tabbed Lone Star Conference Academic Athletes of the Year on Thursday when league officials announced the LSC’s annual academic awards for men’s and women’s indoor track and field.

Doss led a group of 11 track and field standouts on the LSC Men’s All-Academic Team, while Zaborowska was joined by 11 stars on the LSC Women’s All-Academic Team.

A sophomore business management major from Carlsbad, Texas, Doss owns the league’s fastest times in the mile and 3,000-meter events this season.  He’s also on the distance medley relay team that broke the school record with the LSC’s top time in 2013.

Zaborowska, a sophomore accounting major from Wejherowo, Poland, holds the school record in the mile, and leads the conference in that event and the 3,000 meters.  She’s also the anchor of the distance medley relay squad with the best time in the LSC.

To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.30 grade point average and have reached sophomore status both athletically and academically. The Academic Player of Year award and All-Academic Team are selected from the list of academically qualified players, with the league’s sports information directors voting on the basis of both academic and athletic achievement.

Joining Doss on the men’s all-academic team was fellow Buffalo Alexander Korn, Abilene Christian’s Matthew Stark and Parker Petty, Incarnate Word’s Chris DeWitt, Marcos Mora, Alejandro Hernandez and Adan Narvaez, Texas A&M-Kingsville’s Dylan Riedesel, Harding’s Landon Belcher and Eastern New Mexico’s Matthew Dominguez.

On the women’s team with Zaborowska was teammate Dallis Bailey, Angelo State’s Emeline Crutcher, UIW’s Alyson Gonzales and Shaneve Swift, WT’s Emma Love and Katie Jones, TAMUK’s Samantha Alvarez, ACU’s Emily Hill and Midwestern State’s Cara Mack and Michelle Krezonoski.

Overall, 22 men and women were selected to the All-Academic teams.
