Softball: Nine earn Golden Glove Awards

A season’s worth of top plays and solid hands were honored Thursday evening, as winners of the inaugural Lone Star Conference Softball Golden Glove Awards were announced at the championship banquet.

The Golden Glove Awards were determined by a vote of LSC head coaches based on defensive performance alone for all nine positions.

LSC Champion Angelo State boasted the most Golden Glovers with three, while West Texas A&M had two, and Cameron, Texas Woman’s, Midwestern State and Tarleton State each had one defensive standout.

The recipients included ASU catcher Kacie Easley and Tarleton pitcher Samantha Swanda. The infield was comprised of WTAMU’s Allie Cranfill at first base, ASU’s DeeshanaLynn Tafiti at second base, CU’s Drew Wright at the hot corner, and the Rambelles Chelsey Walters at shortstop.

Lady Buffs center fielder Kim LeComte was joined in the outfield by TWU’s Addison Staley and MSU’s Courtney Bingham in left- and right-field, respectively.
