Kanza Bowl: Javelinas set for game plus community events

Texas A&M-Kingsville is going to the fourth annual Kanza Bowl for more than just a football game.  The Javelinas are set to take part in a full schedule of events including community events prior to the game against Emporia State on Sunday, November 25 at 1:30 p.m.

TAMUK arrives on Friday and will check into the Topeka Holidome (Holiday Inn), which is serving as team headquarters.  After a brief practice at Hummer Sports Park, the squad heads to the Kanza Bowl Banquet.

Following breakfast on Saturday, the Javelinas have the option of visiting the Kansas State Capitol before a stop at the Brown v. Board of Education Museum. The U.S. Supreme Court decision in Brown v. Board of Education (1954), which challenged the constitutionality of racial segregation in public schools, is one of the most pivotal opinions ever rendered by that body.

That night, there will be a pep rally for the Javelinas at Boss Hawgs BBQ from 5:30-7 p.m.  In addition to dinner, fans will have a chance to mingle with the players.

Sunday’s festivities start at 8 a.m. with the Jr. Kanza Bowl Championship games.  The pre-game fan fest begins at 11:30 a.m. with giant inflatables, live music and a BBQ contest up until kickoff.
