Lone Star Conference regular season champion Angelo State had four first-team selections on the All-LSC volleyball team announced by league officials Wednesday evening at the LSC Championship banquet.
ASU, which recorded an 18-2 league record and is hosting the LSC Championship that starts tomorrow, had a total of six honorees. Alex Woolsey, Shelbi Goode, Maddie Huth and Shelby Wilt earned first team acclaim, while Kaelen Valdez was a second-teamer and Chelsea Gibson honorable mention.
Additionally, the Rambelles Woolsey earned Setter of the Year honors, Wilt was tabbed Libero of the Year, Goode named Newcomer of the Year and Chuck Waddington was Coach of the Year in the balloting of LSC head coaches.
West Texas A&M, Tarleton State and Texas Woman’s each had two first-teamers. The Lady Buffs Lacy Hayes and Erin Dougherty, TexAnns Nikki McNorton and Stacie Murrah, and Pioneers Viktorija Jablonska and Chloe' Tate garnered first team distinction.
Texas A&M-Commerce’s Rachel Robertson earned Offensive Player of the Year recognition, while Tarleton’s McNorton earned Defensive Player of the Year honors. Abilene Christian’s Sarah Siemens was named Freshman of the Year.
A total of 36 student-athletes were recognized by the LSC postseason awards program including one from all 11 volleyball programs.
WT and Tarleton had five total selections, while TWU had four, and A&M-C and ENMU both added three. ACU, Midwestern State, Cameron, Incarnate Word and Texas A&M-Kingsville all had two.
