Eastern New Mexico won the men’s crown for the second straight year and West Texas A&M took home the women’s title for the first time ever at the Lone Star Conference Cross Country Championships held Saturday in Lawton, Okla.
ENMU prevailed in the men’s eight-kilometer race, while WTAMU ended Midwestern State’s four-year reign in the women’s six-kilometer event.
The Greyhounds recorded a team score of 37 points with three top-10 runners. ENMU’s Isaiah Samoei was the individual medalist for the second consecutive year with a time of 24:43. Kaspers Briska and Kevin Roa contributed to the Greyhound victory, with fourth (25:31) and eighth (25:44) place finishes, respectively.
WTAMU finished second with 75 points, while Tarleton State was third with 81 in the men’s team race. Individually, the Buffs Dylan Doss placed second (25:11), the Texans Tye Doty third (25:25) and WTAMU’s Baptiste Moreu fifth (25:37).
On the women’s side, the Lady Buffs had the top three finishers and all five runners in the top-15 including individual medalist Brenda Sindet for a team score of 30 points. Sindet claimed the individual championship (22:12), followed by Mireia Guarner (22:23) and Amber Moore (22:29).
MSU was second with 64 points, followed by Incarnate Word (71). The Cardinals Stephanie Glatt placed fourth (22:36) and Angelo State’s Annifer Flores was fifth (22:39).
The top 15 finishers in each race earned All-LSC runner acclaim.
