Tarleton State is the only Lone Star Conference team to get off to a perfect start in 2010. The TexAnns went 4-0 last week, while Central Oklahoma, West Texas A&M and Texas A&M-Commerce were 3-1 in week one.

OFFENSIVE
Zuela Adom, University of Central Oklahoma, SR, Euless, TX, Trinity HS
Adom led UCO to a 3-1 record in the season-opening West Texas A&M Classic last weekend, earning all-tournament honors in the process. The senior outside hitter had a tournament-high 70 kills with a .284 attack percentage while adding 16 digs and nine total blocks. Adom hit .364 with 14 kills in a three-set sweep of New Mexico Highlands, hit .311 with 18 kills in a four-set win over Texas-Permian Basin, hit .345 with 24 kills in a five-set loss to Western State and had 14 kills with five blocks in a five-set victory over St. Edward’s.
Ashley Davis, West Texas A&M University, FR, Amarillo, Randall HS
Davis contributed heavily to the Lady Buffs offensive attack this weekend, netting 42 kills with a .316 hitting percentage, while guiding WT to a 3-1 mark in the season-opening Lady Buff Classic. Davis, a red-shirt freshman, finished fifth in the tournament field averaging 3.00 kills per set and her .316 attack percentage was good enough for 10th out of all players over the weekend. The Amarillo native served up three aces, recorded 17 digs and assisted in two blocks as well.
DEFENSIVE
Ginger Gowen, University of Central Oklahoma, JR, Edmond, OK, Santa Fe HS
Gowen led UCO’s defensive efforts in a 3-1 performance at the season-opening West Texas A&M Classic, collecting 80 digs and averaging 4.71 per game. The junior libero had 27 digs in a five-set loss to Western State, 26 in a five-set win over St. Edward’s and 18 in a three-set sweep of New Mexico Highlands.
Alexa Williams, Angelo State University, SO, San Antonio, Texas, MacArthur HS
In just four matches this season, Williams leads the Rambelles with 56 digs (5.09/set)… Helped hold Montevallo to a .184 hitting percentage, and Southwest Baptist to a .113 hitting percentage in the final day of the Florida Southern Classic.
SETTER
Alex Woolsey, Angelo State University, SO, Plano, Texas, Plano East HS
Woolsey collected her first double-double (45 assists, 10 digs) of the year against Montevallo… Averaged 12.50 assists per set… Named to the Florida Southern Classic All-FSC Team… Performed well on defense, accumulating 32 digs and three block assists… Posted 17 kills in four matches, hitting .260
Erika Dupree, West Texas A&M University, JR, Mesquite, Texas, Poteet HS
Dupree got to see her first action as WT’s primary setter over the weekend and she came through for the Lady Buffs, collecting 101 assists in WT’s 6-2 offense. The junior, who made contributions all over the court, came just one kill shy of recording two triple-doubles in Friday’s action at the Lady Buff Classic. Instead, she came away with her first career triple-double in WT’s win over St. Edward’s as she recorded 11 kills, 29 assists and 14 digs. The Mesquite native ranked sixth out of all setters in the tournament as she finished the weekend averaging 6.31 assists per set. She recorded a total of 30 kills, two aces, 47 digs and nine assisted blocks on the weekend as well.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Kaelen Valdez, Angelo State University, notched a double-double (10 kills, 20 digs) in her first collegiate match...Pounded out a match-high 13 kills (.632) hitting percentage in a 3-0 win over Southwest Baptist. ...Hit .320 in four matches to start the season.
Amber Schroer, Cameron University, had a match-high 17 kills against Christian Brothers. Had four blocks against Christian Brothers, Stillman and Missouri Western.
Kristen Beck, Eastern New Mexico University, turned in a strong weekend for the Zias at the West Texas A&M Tournament, posting a team-high .231 attack percentage with 26 kills, five aces, 12 digs and nine blocks. In Eastern’s win over Western State, she finished with 12 kills, a .435 attack percentage and two blocks. Beck also recorded seven kills against Dallas Baptist.
Rachel Wolf, Tarleton State University, led the team with 51 kills in the opening weekend in 14 games played. She had 27 kills against Fort Hays State with a .426 hitting percentage. She added five assists on the weekend along with one service ace and 26 digs (12 of which were against FHSU). Wolf also had seven total blocks, all assisted.
Jennie Hutt, Abilene Christian University, helped pace the Wildcats on both sides of the net as she lead the way offensively with 50 kills and a .283 hitting percentage … she was also active on the defensive side of the net with 50 digs and 14 blocks for ACU … Hutt opened the tournament hitting .364 against Fort Lewis adding 20 kills in the loss also adding four blocks … she was also solid against Mesa State with 12 kills and seven blocks with a .250 hitting percentage
Andrea Rivera-Rojas, Texas Woman’s University, led the team with 43 kills and .260 hitting percentage in the 2010 Holiday Inn Classic Hotel and Suites Classic. Posted three double-doubles and was named to the All-Tournament team. In her first game at TWU, Rivera-Rojas recorded 15 kills and 15 digs.
Lauren Thedford, West Texas A&M University, opened her senior season campaign as a force on the back row, digging nearly everything that came at her. She finished the weekend collecting a team-high 54 digs. She was seventh among all players that participated in the Lady Buff Classic with a 3.38 digs per set average. The Carrollton native added 1 solo block to her numbers and assisted on six blocks as well. For the weekend, Thedford tallied up 46 kills and five service aces as well.
Flynn Harrell, Tarleton State University, played in all 15 games through the four matches last weekend and tallied 40 digs for the TexAnns. She also had 45 kills and a.291 hitting percentage. She had double-digit kills in each of the matches and added seven assists, four service aces and a solo block. She had 13 digs against Arkansas-Monticello and 10 each against Southern Arkansas and Fort Hays State. She averaged 2.67 digs per game and 3.0 kills per game.
Amber Durand, Eastern New Mexico University, registered a .939 reception percentage last weekend in 66 attempts, along with 38 digs. She also was an offensive force, adding 2.6 kills per set (39 total) and three service aces. Durand had 20 digs and a .957 reception percentage in Eastern’s win over Western State.
Ciara Holmes, Texas A&M University - Commerce, made an immediate impact in her first weekend at A&M-Commerce, recording a team-best 17 blocks and averaged 1.13 blocks per set. She had six blocks in the Lions’ wins over Southern Arkansas and Arkansas-Monticello. Against SAU, she had four block solos and against UAM, she had five block assists to pace the A&M-Commerce blocking efforts.
Megan Kimak, East Central University, was named to the West Texas A&M All-Tournament team this past weekend, despite ECU’s 0-4 finish in the event. She had 57 digs in the tourney and had 14 more in the Lady Tigers’ home loss to Arkansas Tech on Monday.
Kendra Coulson, Texas Woman’s University, led the team with 69 digs and 4.31 digs per game at the 2010 Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites Classic. Team leader in digs in three of the four games over the weekend.
IJ Mornou, Abilene Christian University, showed why she is one of the most dynamic players in the LSC … she recorded 150 assists in the four matches for ACU while being a key factor running the offense and helping solidify the Wildcat defense as well … Moronu added 19 kills and had 37 digs and 17 blocks on the defensive side of the net averaging 1.06 blocks per set
Veronica Valdez-Kent, Eastern New Mexico University, had 126 assists over four matches at the West Texas A&M tournament, including a career-best 51 in the Zias’ win over Western State.
Jordan Neal, Texas A&M University - Commerce, set an A&M-Commerce attack that hit .203 en route to a 3-1 record at the Lion Volleyball Classic. The rookie averaged 8.27 digs per set for the weekend. She had 41 assists in the five-set win over Arkansas-Monticello and added seven digs to the cause. In the straight-set win over Oklahoma Panhandle State, she had 23 assists, three kills and two block assists.
Jessie Hartman, Tarleton State University, playing in a 6-2 rotation, Jessie Hartman had 91 assists in the first four matches of the season. She averaged 6.07 assists per game. Hartman had 26 assists in the win over Fort Hays State while tallying 25 each against Southern Arkansas and Arkansas-Monticello. She also recorded 27 digs in the four matches and hit .500, including a five-for-six effort in kills (.833) against Panhandle State. Hartman also had three service aces.
