East Central’s Andres Nunez was named Lone Star Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Year on Thursday as the annual awards were announced.

   Nunez was the choice for men’s top player and earned All-LSC honors for his play in singles and doubles as well.

   The all-conference honors were voted upon by the head coaches at each LSC member institution for just the third time in 2010.  Previously, the results of the LSC Individual Championships Tournament determined the team.

   Individual awards went to Midwestern State’s Carlos Bataller for Sportsmanship Player of the Year, and the Mustangs Bo Zaputovic and Larry Wiggins were tabbed Newcomer and co-Coach of the Year, respectively.  Cameron’s Jorge Gerosi earned Freshman of the Year acclaim, while ECU’s Charlie Hibbard picked up co-Coach of the Year honors.

   A total of 23 student-athletes from five member institutions were recognized through the LSC’s all-conference program.
