Cross Country: ACU's men place 15th, MSU's women finish 17th at nationals

LOUISVILLE – Abilene Christian’s men finished 15th and Midwestern State’s women placed 17th in the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships Saturday afternoon at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park.

 
Amos Sang paced the Wildcats finishing 9th in the field of 182 runners with a time of 31:10.5 over the 8-kilometer course. He was followed by teammates Romain Rybicki (53rd, 31:55.5) and Cleophas Tanui (91st, 32:33.1).
 
Sydnee Cole led the Mustangs placing 80th in the group of 187 runners with a time of 23:08.40. Ashley Flores (99th, 23:26.40) and Brissia Montalvo (100th, 23:27.20) were just behind her.
 
ACU’s Anais Belledant finished 65th competing as an individual in the women's race. She covered the 6k course in 22:51.6.

Adams State (Colo.) claimed the national team championship with a score of 57 while Western State (Colo.) (102), Grand Valley State (135), Colorado Mines (161) and Chico State (Calif.) (181) rounded out the top five on the men’s side.

Queens (N.C.) senior Michael Crouch crossed the line first with a time of 30:43.2 to earn the men’s individual national title. 

On the women’s side, the top five included Grand Valley State, who claimed the national team title with a score of 66, followed by Western State (Colo.) (95), Adams State (Colo.) (98), Shippensburg (Pa.) (114) and Chico State (Calif.) (164).

Shippensburg junior Neely Spence raced to earn the women’s individual national title with a time of 20:41.20.
