No. 3 West Texas A&M defeated Lone Star Conference foe No. 8
Midwestern State 3-0 on Friday afternoon in Durango, Colo., in the
first round of the NCAA regional, after the teams played to two
ties during the regular season.
WTAMU (15-1-2) got two goals early in the game, as Ben Everson
scored in the eighth minute of play, and Nicki Nielsen converted a
penalty kick six minutes later. The scoring was rounded out by
Dominic Furness, who scored in the 60th minute.
WTAMU will play host and No. 1-ranked Fort Lewis at 2 p.m. on
Sunday in the second round. Fort Lewis advanced by defeating
Colorado Mines 3-0.
MSU finishes the season at 13-2-3.
