Northeastern State and Cameron overcame a constant drizzle to
take the men's and women's title at the Lone Star Conference Golf
Championships as play concluded at the Bear Creek Golf Club in
Dallas.
NSU claimed its third consecutive LSC championship with a final
round of 296 behind Joby Dutcher's two-under-par 20, which earned
the senior the medalist award.
Cameron won it's first-ever LSC title with a riveting finish to
edge UCO by one stroke with a 66-over 642. The Aggies shot 332 in
the second round after leading by nine strokes when the day began.
The Bronchos Mari Suursalu shot seven-over for two rounds to claim
LSC women's medalist honors.
The men's all-tournament team included Dutcher, Central
Oklahoma's Mitch Boles, Cameron's Matt Trammell, NSU's Kevin King
and Blake Worden of Texas A&M-Commerce.
The all-tournament team for women consisted of Suursalu, CU's
Janel Bailey and Renee Breeze, along with Tarleton State's
Shraddhanjali Singh and UCO's Maria Jimenez.
UCO's men (884) were second with a 20-over total, while Texas
A&M Commerce and Abilene Christian tied for third with a
37-over team total.
On the women's side, UCO finished just one stroke behind CU with
a team total of 643, while TSU was third with an 81-over 657 total
for two rounds.
