East Central's John Sutrick and Southwestern Oklahoma's Rachel
Ingram were among those recognized Tuesday when Lone Star
Conference officials released the league's all-academic awards.
Sutrick was named the LSC Men's Academic Runner of the Year,
while Ingram was LSC Women's Academic Runner of the Year for the
second consecutive year. Both were voted to the LSC All-Academic
team, which recognize 10 runners -- five men and five women -- for
both academic and athletic achievement. The All-Academic teams are
voted upon by the league's sports information directors.
Besides the All-Academic teams being announced, another 26
runners including 24 women and two men were named to the
Commissioner's Honor Roll for their academic success. To be
eligible for both the Honor Roll and the All-Academic team,
student-athletes must maintain a 3.20 cumulative grade point
average.
East Central, the LSC runner-up at the LSC meet, swept the men's
awards with five student-athletes on the All-Academic team. ECU had
four selections on the women's side, while Southwestern Oklahoma
put two on the women's All-Academic team.
With Sutrick on the men's All-Academic team were fellow Tigers
Wade Floyd, Koby Styles, Jacob Bussell and Josh Stewart.
Joining Ingram on the women's All-Academic team were SWOSU
teammate Stefani Jones, Jisel Bailon of West Texas A&M, Angelo
State's Allison Jansa, Angelo Ingram of ECU and Tarleton State's
Krista Morris.
