Melanie Robotham joined the conference staff in August 2006 and serves as the Director of Media Relations for the Lone Star Conference.
Robotham is the league's fourth full-time media relations director since the conference office was established in 1996. Before joining the conference staff, Robotham was the sports information director at Texas Woman's University the past two years.
Robotham replaces Stan Wagnon as the conference's primary media contact. Wagnon, who has been with the LSC since 2003, was appointed interim commissioner following the June retirement of longtime commissioner Fred Jacoby.
Robotham will oversee all facets of media relations for the NCAA Division II conference, including the handling of statistics, administrative issues, NCAA reporting and maintenance of the LSC official website - www.lonestarconference.org. She will work closely with the sports information directors at each of the 15 member institutions.
Robotham has worked in college athletics since 1998, including stops at Division I Arkansas and Division II Nebraska-Kearney and South Dakota. Her association with the LSC began in August 2004, when she accepted the SID position at Texas Woman's.
In two years at TWU, she has supervised the publicity and promotion of the Pioneers athletic department, with responsibilities of sports information, marketing and home event management. She orchestrated several enhancements to the TWU athletics website, including the implementation of live statistics for all sports.
Before arriving at TWU, Robotham served during the 2001-02 and 2002-03 academic years as a graduate assistant in the South Dakota sports information office before working in 2003-04 as a communications assistant in the Arkansas SID office.
While at USD, she assisted with all aspects of the SID operation, including work with the university's football team. During her time at Arkansas, she was the primary contact for the women's softball and swimming and diving teams.
Robotham gained additional professional experience by working for the CBS Sports production crew at the 2002 NCAA College World Series, and she volunteered to assist the media relations efforts at the 2003 NCAA Men's Basketball Midwest Regional in Minneapolis, Minn.
Robotham, who played four seasons as a starting shortstop and outfielder for the softball teams at Nebraska-Kearney and South Dakota, earned a bachelor's degree in 2001 and a master's degree in 2003 at USD.
A native of Lincoln, Nebraska, Robotham now lives in Richardson, Texas.
